May 15th, 2011
The country of Peru, in South America, is a land of diversity and hosts multi cultures, climates, geography and a wide variety of attractions and activities. Visitors arrive from all over the globe to be taken in by overwhelming vistas, ancient ruins and the rich ecological treasures. There are white sand beaches, towering mountains and steaming jungles. The majority of visitors come to enjoy the varied cultures and to take in such jewels as Machu Pichu and Lake Titicaca, but what many do not know is that Peru is host to some very fine and diverse fishing.
There are well equipped fishing operators and guides throughout the country and the traveling sportsman can be fishing on the ocean one day, wading an alpine stream the next and casting a jungle river the following day. Fishing expeditions can be outfitted in Lima, the destination of most international flights. From Lima, the angler can be fishing for black and stripped marlin in the south Pacific waters, fly fishing for Rainbow trout in an Andes’ stream, angling for peacock bass and payara in Amazonia and finish the day, relaxing with a fine dinner and drinks in a, well appointed, lodge or luxurious resort.
