Get In Shape On The Fitness Trails

Peru, Indiana has two trails and several parks for those interested in getting in shape. The fitness trails are beautiful, winding through woods and along rivers. Visitors and residents alike can bike, walk, run and even rollerblade.
Nickel Plate Trail
The Nickel Plate trail is 40 miles long and starts in Rochester, Indiana and ends in Cassville, Indiana. This trail is primarily a bike trail, but other activities can be pursued. The terrain is mostly level and its paved with asphalt. This fitness trail passes through wooded areas and open farmland. Bikers may also catch glimpses of the small towns that the trail goes through. Visitors can pick up the trail in Peru to head 25 miles north or 12.7 miles south.
River Walkway Park
The River Walkway Park also has a fitness trail. This one is much shorter and only located in Peru, Indiana. The trail is 9/10 of a mile one way and runs along the Wabash River. The paved walkway is 8 feet across and runs from Holman Street to Broadway.
